2008 Maccabi Games for Teens Ages 13-16 Sunday, August 17 - Friday, August 22 The
JCC Maccabi Games® have been offering a life-and personality-shaping
experience to Jewish teenagers since 1982.
At this Jewish Olympic style event, each athlete has the chance to
participate in one of 14 sports and events spanning the week-long
experience, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
The JCC Maccabi Games can be called the Olympics for Jewish teens,
but they serve a larger purpose than athletic competition.
The Games also promote community involvement, teamwork, and pride
in being Jewish. The Games
are the largest Jewish teen event in the world – each summer over 6,000
Jewish teens participate in the Games.
Over 100,000 teens have benefited from the JCC Maccabi Games since
1982. The energy and excitement make it a unique and unforgettable
experience for every participant, from athletes to volunteers, from
coaches to host families. This year the Ann Arbor team will attend the Detroit Maccabi Games, which will offer boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, boys baseball, girls softball, girls volleyball, boys in-line hockey, golf, tennis, bowling, dance, swimming, track and field, and table tennis. Detroit will be a spectacular venue for the Games, and Ann Arbor's teens will be housed with host families so they can enjoy the complete Maccabi experience. To learn more about Maccabi, please visit the JCC Maccabi Games website at www.jccmaccabigames.org and the Detroit Maccabi Games website at www.2008detroit.org. Teens must be 13-16 years old as of July 31, 2008, to participate. The cost will be $650 per athlete.
