Renovate the Lounges Campaign

Your Jewish Community Center serves as the central meeting place for Jewish communal life in Ann Arbor. Have you ever attended a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, a holiday celebration, an intergenerational event, a Federation meeting or speaker presentation, a Hebrew Day School pizza lunch, a Jewish Cultural Society or Reconstructionist Havurah service, a Book Festival speaker event, a JCC Senior event, a Jewish Family Service program, or a community rally for Israel?
If you have, you know our lounges are in demand from morning to night and desperately need to be updated. We are committed to making them the attractive venues you deserve. It is in this context that we have some very exciting news to share with you. The Jewish Cultural Society, which considers the JCC its home, has offered to fund one half of the cost of completely renovating and redecorating the Newman, Levine and Gelman Lounges, if we meet the challenge to raise the other half of the necessary funds.
Architect plans are complete and the total cost is estimated at $66,000 requiring the JCC to raise $33,000 to match the Jewish Cultural Society's most generous contribution. The end result will be a beautiful upgrade for everyone who uses our facility.
We need families in our community to join the $100 LOUNGE RENOVATION CHALLENGE by returning the enclosed form with a tax-deductible check for $100 (or more) to make new JCC lounges a reality. If each of us gives just a little, we will all gain a lot.
We understand that it is difficult to ask our community members to reach into their pockets yet again, and we know that everyone is facing difficult choices right now. However, the outcome more than justifies the costs. Several of our founders have already agreed to help us with this project.
If we all join together, we can do this even in these challenging economic times. The JCC has accomplished a great deal in the last several years in enhancing your Jewish community building-all with community support.

We thank you in advance for helping to build a better JCC $100 at a time.
Sincerely,
