Apples & Honey
Apples & Honey, the JCC's annual family event that celebrates the Jewish fall holidays, is a popular community wide event. Participants are able to taste apples and honey, enjoy children's activities, and purchase Judaica items, Israeli food, and kosher baked goods. This program brings together many local Jewish organizations to provide information about their purpose and to educate participants about the upcoming fall holidays, A Newcomers' Booth offers information about Ann Arbor and the Ann Arbor Jewish community.
Each summer the Israeli Scouts Friendship Caravan visits Ann Arbor for a day in July or August. The Israel Scouts Friendship Caravan is part of a larger delegation of approximately 100 teenage scouts who travel to North America each summer to represent the land of Israel. Using song, dance, and storytelling, the Israel Scouts celebrate the Jewish heritage and bring the sights and sounds of Israel to life. The Israel Scouts spend part of the day entertaining and educating the campers at the JCC's Camp Raanana, and then delight the entire community with an evening performance at the JCC.
Families are invited to participate in Tot Shabbat every Friday at the JCC from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. Parents, grandparents, caregivers, and toddlers can come and celebrate Shabbat by singing songs, making challah, and having fun. This free event is made possible by a grant from the Benard L. Maas Foundation.
The Latke Hop, a family Chanukah celebration, is an annual December event at the JCC. The event includes games and crafts, havdalah, dinner and live music, dancing, candle lighting, and LATKES!
