Kovler will be speaking about his work with The Jewish Music Theater and his latest collaboration with the
University of Michigan Dance Department.
Russian born, Israeli raised and now Boston-based composer Matti Kovler has earned rave reviews from the Boston Globe and New York Times for his work. His more 'serious' compositions were commissioned by Carnegie Hall, Israel Philharmonic and Tanglewood Music Centre.
Kovler is visting Ann Arbor for the world premiere of Bill DeYoung choreography to "The Unbearable Lightness" for seven double basses and eleven dancers taking place at the Power Center, Ann Arbor.
In this presentation especially for JCC of Greater Ann Arbor, Kovler will present video excerpts from his
musico-theatric works that blend pop and classical styles with Jewish folklore. Matti will also speak about his most recent music video in response to Menorah vandalism at Northeastern University in Boston featuring American Idol’s Brett Loewenstern.
